Welcome to American Chinese Medical Center, acupuncture division. We have founded this division mainly focusing on the holistic approach to illness and health. We are trained physicians who see a variety of different illness in our office. One unsatisfied aspect of our western medicine practice is the huge gap between what we call disease and illness.

Disease is what we can define by western terms and abnormality found on blood tests and diagnostic tests. Illness is what patient feels, such as fatigue, back pain, and chest pain. Sometimes, we can diagnose the underlying etiologies of patients’ illnesses, such as anemia or low thyroid state for fatigue. But more often than not, despite a very extensive medical work up, no diagnostic abnormality can be uncovered for that particular illness. Both the physician and the patient are very frustrated. By integrating western medicine and eastern medicine and making sure no major disease is missed, we have been able to help our patients suffering from all kinds of illness such as pain, allergies, migraine, obesity, multiple sclerosis, infertility, etc. When you come for the visit, we will go over your western medicine diagnosis and make sure no major diseases are missed and then propose the course of treatment. (Please read about our patients’ feedback.)

We now have state-of-the-art diagnostic machine which enables us to pin-point which meridian is blocked inside the body. Based on the elegant ancient Chinese concept of “If there is no blockage, there is no disease”, we have been able to open up the specific blockage and achieve healing in some of the very-tough-to-treat diseases, such as fibromyalgia.

For those who are afraid of the acupuncture needle or the pain (albeit minimal), we offer the alternative of laser acupuncture, achieving comparable therapeutic effect without the needles or pain. Laser acupuncture has also been very helpful in helping our patient with obesity, allergy, and hair loss (either alopecia areata or age-related hair loss).

We have two convenient locations in Newton Highlands and Brighton Center, Newton Highlands Office – across the street from Newton Highlands T station and Brighton Center Office – across the street from St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center.
